Puerto Rico is an easy pick for a bachelorette weekend. U.S. citizens do not need a passport (bring a government-issued photo ID), the water is warm year-round, and the island packs beaches, food, nightlife and nature into a short trip. Here are nine ideas to build your weekend around, starting with the one most groups remember best.
1. A Private Boat Day from Fajardo
A private charter is the centerpiece of many Puerto Rico bachelorette trips. You get the whole boat to yourselves, with your own music and no strangers on board, and you spend the day anchored in clear, shallow water off Icacos Island or Palomino Island, swimming, snorkeling and floating on the big mat.
We run private bachelorette charters from Fajardo on two boats: a 40-foot Tiara yacht for up to 12 guests and a 30-foot power catamaran with an onboard restroom for up to 6 guests (8 with advance confirmation). Food and drinks are included, and every captain is licensed and every crew member drug-screened.
See boats, prices and what is included on our bachelorette charter page, or check availability for your date.
2. Old San Juan for Brunch and Wandering
Old San Juan is a walkable UNESCO World Heritage site with pastel buildings, cobblestone streets, boutiques and plenty of brunch spots. It is a good first-day plan for a group that is still arriving in waves, and the forts at the edge of the old city have wide ocean views for photos.
3. A Day at Luquillo Beach and the Kiosks
Luquillo has a calm, palm-lined public beach and a row of food kiosks just off the sand serving fritters, seafood and cold drinks. It is relaxed and inexpensive, and it sits roughly between San Juan and Fajardo, which makes it an easy stop on the way to your boat day.
4. El Yunque Rainforest
El Yunque is the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. National Forest System and is about an hour from San Juan. Short trails lead to waterfalls and natural pools. Access to some areas and trails can require advance reservations or change with conditions, so check the official El Yunque website before you plan around it.
5. Night Kayaking in a Bioluminescent Bay
Mosquito Bay in Vieques is one of the most famous bioluminescent bays in the world, where the water glows when you move through it. Guided night kayak tours run from Vieques, and they can sell out on weekends, so book early. Plan this as its own trip, since it needs time and a ferry or flight to get there.
6. A Culebra Beach Day
Culebra is a small island east of Fajardo known for Flamenco Beach and its clear water. It is reachable by ferry or by boat, and it works best as a full-day outing rather than a quick stop.
7. Rooftop Bars and Dinner in Condado and Santurce
For a night out, San Juan has rooftop bars in Condado with ocean views and a lively restaurant and nightlife scene in Santurce. Reserve dinner ahead for a larger group, and plan rides home in advance.
8. A Spa Morning
If the group wants one slow morning, several San Juan resorts offer spa services and pool access for groups. It pairs well with a late-afternoon plan, or with a rest day after the boat.
9. Photo and Drone Video of Your Day
Many brides want something to keep. We offer a professional photo and drone video add-on for your charter, and we can arrange private transportation from San Juan, Dorado or Rio Grande so the whole group arrives together.
A Simple Weekend Plan
- Friday: arrive, Old San Juan brunch or dinner, rooftop drinks.
- Saturday: private boat day from Fajardo, then a relaxed dinner.
- Sunday: spa morning or Luquillo kiosks before flights.
Weekend boat dates are the first to fill, so lock in the charter before booking flights and hotels.
Bachelorette Planning FAQ
How far ahead should we book the boat?
Weekend dates go first, so book as soon as your group has dates. Message us to check a specific day.
Do we need a passport?
Not if you are a U.S. citizen. A government-issued photo ID is enough to fly to Puerto Rico. International guests should bring a passport.
What if the weather is bad on boat day?
If our captain decides the weather is stormy or unsafe, we cancel the trip and refund the deposit. See our refund policy.
Where do the boats leave from?
The Tiara 40 leaves from Puerto del Rey Marina in Fajardo, and the power catamaran leaves from Villa Marina Renaissance in Fajardo.
